Rep. Matt Salmon of Arizona is pushing his Republican colleagues to try to block the president from using executive action on immigration, but his plan is likely to hit strong resistance from House leaders.
The federal government is currently funded through a continuing resolution that runs out at midnight on December 11. Salmon, echoing similar calls from Republican senators Jeff Sessions of Alabama and Mike Lee of Utah, proposes that Congress pass a bill that would fund the government until early next year. If the president moves ahead with his executive amnesty, the expiring continuing resolution would give Republicans an opportunity to block funding for the president's action after both houses of Congress are under Republicans’ control.
But that plan has a tough road ahead. Republican leadership in the House is eager to pass a spending bill through the 2015 fiscal year before the start of the new Congress.

The House should dialog immediately with selected governors and state AGs (because the latter have standing) to file for a preliminary federal injunction that orders Obama to remain within the existing statutes of immigration law.
If any of Obama’s federal officials, directors, officers or contractors carry out his directives in defiance of the federal court order, the federal court can order US Marshals to arrest and detain such persons until Obama’s lawyers appear in court to explain how their actions are not in violation of the federal court order.
They can't do a CR past Feb 2015, or all bets are off. The GOP-E will have NO leverage.

I always want to scream at this topic. Congress simply defunds or refuses to fund amnesty and it is over. If Obama opts to close the government, that’s his call and his responsibility. The world didn’t end the last time the government shut down and is unlikely to do so the next time it is shut down.
Took the words right out of my mouth. That would shut him down for a while — maybe. Or he could become an even more brazen martyr-in-waiting.

Propose that this year, 1/3 of the folks on rolls who have legally applied for citizenship, (the third closest to having their citizenship granted), be given immediate citizenship.
The second 1/3 will be granted citizenship the year after that.
Let the Democrats defend why those who enter this country illegally should be granted citizenship first. Don’t let the Democrats control the narrative. Show some leadership and offer a plan that makes your opponent look bad if they disagree and that does not allow them to say that you have no solutions and that you are just an obstructionist.
No need to worry about the last 1/3 as the elections will have taken care of our current administration by then.
