These patients did not get good early care like those in the US. Also Africa isn’t exactly known for its great nutrition and health system to recover afterwards.
Surely if someone suffers anything severe enough to do organ damage, then there is much more healing to be done in the system, but the body IS capable of healing organ damage given the right nutrition and circumstances.
However, even under the worst cases, you seem to overstate the situation.
