Can I ask a stupid question?

The Keystone pipeline has been under review, and has been studied, for over five years now? Exactly what more has to be studied to determine whether to go forward?

We won World War II in less time than our government has been deciding whether building a pipeline is a worthwhile project or not.

Nothing really. I mean if many other pipelines have already existed and are not a danger to the environment, why not Keystone?

It’s the same as hydrofracking in New York State. Neighboring Pennsylvania has been doing it safely for years without problems creating tens of thousands of jobs in PA ( and at the NY border ). But still, Andrew Cuomo has been ordering one study after the other. It’s been going on for more than 5 years here in NY.

The point is really to appease the environmentalist wacko base. That’s all there is to it.

++++
The same thing that they have been studying for the last 5 years:

“How will holding up approval of the Keystone Pipeline impact campaign contributions and our prospects in the next election?”

Until Obama perceives that the answer has changed he is just going to keep studying the “problem”.

Quite right, Dilbert. This has languished on Harry Reid’s desk for years. Mary Landrieu is in deep reelection trouble and needs all the help she can get. So she is pushing for a Keystone Pipeline vote now to help her garner a few votes. Later, Obama can always veto it. What a sad and cynical way to run the country!!!
