Boston Suburbs and P Town. I guess I meant where “normal” people lived.

I think what a lot of folks do not realize is that most of the time the conservatives in MA do not even bother to get involved, because the machines in the dem districts are so strong.

When you get down to the individual issues such as Obamacare (which was the issue when we elected Brown) and this tobacco issue (in Westminster) will bring out the conservatives...or at least the libertarians.

For 90% of the issues, the average conservative here just doesn’t feel empowered enough to do anything. The social issues here are not enough to get folks moving. MA tends to be socially liberal (gay rights, abortion, and what not) but fiscally conservative.

For example, we have a large jewish community in our town. Our kids get the Jewish holidays off. We move our football games around them in the fall. When someone brings up the Eid holiday or Ramadam, the school committee pretty much said, when it is enough to close the schools we will put them on the calendar. Otherwise, write us a note beforehand and we will deal with your kids on an individual basis.

You see, as small groups we can be sensitive, but not crazy PC. As a state, the looney birds are in charge and that is not going to change.
