I get your drift, but that didn’t work in L. A. where it was tried in 1992. Then you get a situation that expands at will, and is almost impossible to bring back under control.
Bring in the national guard and let it be known that any violence will result in a manditory 20 year prison sentence with no possibility of parole.
Except this isn’t LA. It will get out of hand but only in a small way. LA wasn’t really forewarned about the riots. What you don’t want to do is give the rioters a place to concentrate their firepower like a police line.
In heavily armed places like the Midwest, it’s a little more difficult to riot for long. People will start shooting at them, especially if the police are absent.
My brother was living in LA during the Rodney Riots. His neighborhood was protected by a Latino street gang.
