I work in a nursing home(or “Heavens Waiting Room’’, as I call it), you don’t need a cat or any other animal to know when someones time is coming. Trust me, I don’t know how exactly to put it into words but you just know.

I heard on the news that Robin Williams was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. That could explain his need to end his life. Yeah. That's a tough one. I know every case is different. My MIL would not have enough presence of mind to hang herself. LBD is very debilitating in my experience with her. Maybe Williams was earlier along in the disease. My MIL saw bears in a carpet pattern and people that weren't there very early on. It went on for 10 years. Who knows? Just bad all the way around.

In that case, I am not certain whether I should respond to you on any threads here. Because you might, say, suddenly enquire as to whether or not I have a "Living Will" made out already. Just in case, of course... *waggles eyebrows significantly*

” It was oddly comforting to see the kitty curled up next to her.”
My late mother would have loved that.

Thank you for saying that. From my experience with my dad in a hospice house, there are signs.
I just thought it was interesting that the cat stuck with my MIL.
There was no cat where my dad was, but we knew he was dying.
You’re a good person to witness that everyday. I admire you and your fortitude. Not many of us could do what you do. Kudos!

I have heard of dogs being able to identify cancers. If you don’t get it treated then the cat comes and ushers you to eternity.

Bless your mom. Hope she has lots of kitties in heaven. :)
To: Sawdring
Oh noes - our cat just curled up in my lap. Guess he isn’t the Tuxedo Cat of Death. I hope.
To: Sawdring
So when is the cat’s demise going to be predicted?
To: Sawdring
Any day now, that cat will be found curled up on the U.S. Constitution.

Cats know all kinds of things that we don’t, and they revel in rubbing it in.

My cat wouldn’t leave my mom’s side when she was dying. After she passed, he would look for her then curl up on the blanket she had had on her. That broke my heart.
