Action On Immigration Meets Silence, Skepticism In Silicon Valley

Tech companies lobbies all the time — for tax reform, patent reform. But usually, it's in the form of big checks and quiet back room meetings.

Immigration was different — the issue where business leaders decided to ally with Latino community groups and labor unions. And now that President Obama has issued an executive action, the tech sector is sorting out its next steps.

Love Song Goes Quiet

For a while, it seemed, Silicon Valley and Washington DC were singing each other a love song.

In his 2012 State of the Union Address, President Obama said America needs foreign technology workers to stay here and build multi-billion-dollar businesses. He cited an iconic leader: "[We] should support everyone who's willing to work, and every risk-taker and entrepreneur who aspires to become the next Steve Jobs."

Meanwhile, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg started giving his own campaign speeches, not just for visas to hire more foreign software engineers, but also for tomato pickers and dishwashers. He bridged the deep divide between blue- and white-collar lobbies.

He even recruited CEO friends from LinkedIn and DropBox to form the lobbying start-up Fwd.us and said about the new undertaking: "I was really heartened to see just how easy it was to get so many of the leaders [of] a lot of the great companies out here to sign on to support not just the issues that would benefit their companies, but full comprehensive immigration reform."

But after the President's latest speech on immigration, it sounds like there's less love in the air.

Zuckerberg did not applaud the move to grant temporary visas to 4 or 5 million immigrants. In his own Facebook page, he announced the speech, but then stayed silent about its contents.

I don’t know how such intelligent people can actually be so stupid that they actually believed they were going to get what they paid for.

I like Instapundit's ideas for an immigration gift to Silicon Valley - prevailing wage requirement for H1B hires with personal liability of CEOs and HR execs. Also, a tax on remittances to Mexico, et al. equal to average US income taxe rate.

"THE PRESIDENT SAID" illegal immigrants (hiding in the shadows)---including criminals---are encouraged to come forward to fill out APPLICATIONS for temporary residency

The "tolerant and compassionate" Obama govt will record all their information including illegals' documents from their homelands: copies of their matricular cards, passports, names of family members, number of children, places of residence in the USA, as well as in their homelands, including full biometrics, fingerprints, DNA etc. etc. etc.....

Remember kiddies, "THE PRESIDENT SAID" illegals should give his federal operatives all the relevant info so that 5 million illegals can "stay." (sniffle)

==================================================

Oh, BTW, all info will be data-mined w/ existing federal and state info.....lordy, heaven knows what we'll find:

Multiple identities, voting registrations, multiple SS nos, multiple drivers' licenses, multiple EBT cards, EITC applications, real estate holdings here, and in their homelands, investment accounts, American Express platinum cards, bank accounts, bank cards, debit cards, wire-transfers to offshore banks......

.......etc, etc, etc, and so on and forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

Mmmmm......Silicon Valley not welcoming the new immigrants. Could this be why?

They're Coming to America but not on the LI Limited. No running water and flush toilets on those trains. How did the "new employees" handle body wastes on the trip over the border?

Coming to contaminate your communities, schools and workplaces.

=============================================

TALKING POINTS Big business, Chamber of Commerce members--including publicly-traded companies---who advocate open borders should take heed. There have been thousands of accusations of human rights abuse, extortion, and even reports of murder on the freight trains transporting undocumented migrants to the US border....many coming to work in their companies.

The trains involved are publicly-traded companies, traded on NASDAQ, with "very influential stockholders", such as the Clintons and billionaire Mexico resident, Carlos Slim. Other stockholders include,T Rowe Price, Bank of America, and General Electric.

The real eye-opener is that these freight train companies are involved in the Narco trade, and one report makes it clear that the companies are aware of the abusive practices their train operators are engaging in.

The border swarm is all about human trafficking, narco-trafficking, and government and corporate collusion.
