The truly amusing thing is that until the end of WWII, we had a Defense Department (a small standing military charged mainly with territorial defense) that we called a War Department. Now we have a War Department ( a huge standing military capable of large-scale expeditionary wars without a draft) that we call a Defense Department.
If I were in charge I’d change it to “The Killing the Enemy and Breaking Their Things Department”, but that’s just me.
