RE: I hate journalists that only give part of the story. They will keep this mess going by their intentional omissions.

For a full week in March, 2012 NBC “Nightly News” and “Today,” along with its local Miami affiliate ran audio tape of George Zimmerman’s 911 call the night he fatally shot Trayvon Martin.

NBC viewers learned that Zimmerman had said to the 911 dispatcher, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”

That was pretty damning evidence of racial profiling. It was also an entirely false representation of the 911 conversation. Someone at NBC had edited the tape to make Zimmerman appear racist. The unedited sequence of the call went like this:

Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”

Dispatcher: “OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?”

Zimmerman: “He looks black.”

The Dispatcher’s question to Zimmerman was cut off.

This report at the L.A time that you observe is no different.

They want to give readers an impression that it was Office Wilson who started the scuffle.

The irresponsible media is partly responsible for the riots.

I have said many, many times that the WORST liars are those who NEVER LIE! What I mean is that they never say anything that could technically be called making a statement that they know is literally false which is my definition of a lie. What they do is leave out things which could convey a truth which they don’t want to reveal or say things which, while technically true, leave the listener with a false impression. This kind of thing seems to be rampant in modern “journalism”. Then there is pure carelessness or ignorance which is so often obvious. I was reading an online report a little while ago about Ferguson in which it was said that police had seized a “45MM automatic handgun”. That would be a handgun with a caliber of approximately 1.77 meaning a bore diameter of over one and three quarters inch capable of fully automatic fire. I suspect if such a thing actually existed it would require someone maybe twenty feet tall and weighing three or four thousand pounds to fire it without injuring the user.

I wonder how many of these writers could even be made to understand how different a “45mm AUTOMATIC handgun” would be from a real world 45 CALIBRE SEMIautomatic handgun which is apparently what they meant to refer to.
