During the 68 riots in DC, my father was driving home and a mob surrounded him a a couple of other vehicles. The mob started pounding on the vehicle so my father “downshifted to second and hit the gas” (he was driving a VW bug). He said he heard a few thuds and shrieks and he was free of the crowd. He looked back and say the mob of Hiolder’s People still pounding and rocking the car that was in front of him. Heard later they beat the driver and destroyed his car.
