Hollywood Police have arrested a pair of robbers who they believe stormed into a Sunoco gas station last night armed with a machete to take money from a game full of spare change.
Police said they arrested Kevon Michael-Dean Mowatt, 21, and Jeremy Daye Gordon Toylor, 24, on charges for the robbery. Mowatt was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon while Toylor faces charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, resisting without violence, and probation violation.
The robber armed with the machete slammed it into the glass case of the machine twice to break it open. As his accomplice was emptying the machine, someone interrupted and pushed the machete-wielding robber, who then chased the person to the back of the store and swung the machete.
“I don’t know why they did like this,” said the store’s manager Simon Karakunnel. “They didn’t ask for money. They break the machine. It’s a very scary moment.”
The robbers weren’t concerned with the cameras in the store, which recorded the entire incident. No one was injured during the robbery.
About a mile down the road a separate incident played out involving an alleged robbery. Hollywood Police served a search warrant on a home after being led there by the license tag of the getaway car from the Sunoco robbery.
The same car was also caught leaving the scene of another alleged crime Wednesday morning at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. Seminole Police arrested Toylor and charged him with attempted strong-armed robbery.

They seem to act like they are empowered by someone. Like
someone higher up is giving them the impression that
acting like this is ok. Someone not outright saying it’s
ok but letting them know he is against any legal authority
to step in and stop this kind of activity. Some one who
would use this activity for their own personal gain or
for payback to a group of people who have rejected him.
Someone who is not particularly part of the general
society but an outsider, not in line with modern culture
but more attune to a more primitive destructive mind set.
Well, at least they didn’t use a gun (sarcasm).
Once again we see exhibited, by the robbers, that deadly combination of low intelligence and poor impulse control.
