GENEVA, Switzerland, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Voters in Switzerland Sunday rejected a referendum designed to limit immigration into the country for reasons of environmental conservation, along with other items dealing with tax breaks for expatriates and boosting gold reserves.

The "Ecopop" initiative called for a massive reduction of net immigration into the country down to 0.2 percent of the total population. The annual number of foreigners entering Switzerland would have been cut from roughly 80,000 down to 16,000. Swiss voters rejected the measure by 74 percent.

Sorry Swiss, you’re extinct. Dead country walking. Whatever values you hold, they’ll be fine in 50 years. Replaced by immigrants who are bold enough to take the land your fathers died to protect.

If you read the article, it states many of the “immigrants” they support are very wealthy people escaping from Europe, and who are bringing their disposable income with them.

Which also answers why they voted down the other two initiatives in such large numbers.
No to double taxation for expats.
No to buying gold at it's height to supposedly prop up a artificial monetary system not currently dependent an it.

Switzerland is a beautifull country. I think of them as more educated rednecks, with a larger appreciation for presenting themselves in public as an extremely polite society.
I very much doubt they will become extinct, since their people are obviously not buying the “greenie” lies, and are also not buying the leftist “diversity” mantra.

I visited the country. It was impressive. From a visitor standpoint, they were the nicest and smartest people on that side of the Atlantic.
OTOH,if I were a bad person, I wouldn't want to try to pull any kind of crap there...it wouldn't be tolerated.

Just saying....

RE: I think of them as more educated rednecks

Switzerland also issues firearms to adult men and provides training in their use.

The Swiss army has long been a militia trained and structured to rapidly respond against foreign aggression. Swiss males grow up expecting to undergo basic military training, usually at age 20, after which Swiss men remain part of the “militia” in reserve capacity until age 30 (or age 34 for officers).

Each such individual is required to keep his army-issued personal weapon (the 5.56x45mm Sig 550 rifle for enlisted personnel and/or the 9mm SIG-Sauer P220 semi-automatic pistol for officers, medical and postal personnel) at home.

The Swiss too are members of that suicide club, called the West.

The greatest thing the Swiss have ever done was to invent the swiss army knife...If u have one in its original box...It's worth more then you paid for it!....However....If u actually carry one...Youre an idiot!...

In a few years..the Swiss weapon of choice will be the boxes!

So we agree.

The Swiss have a much more formal and polite militia system.

We in the USA have a more egalitarian and demonstrably more impolite and uncontrolled and uncounted civilian militia.I submit ours is a bit more voluntary than theirs...
Probably due to our vastly larger population and the scale of military veterans, and our vastly larger civilian/non veteran local law abiding male population. Not to mention our Constitution.

I like Switzerland, but it is not possible to really compare that tiny nation to the USA.
