IT WAS A STUPID POLITICAL DECISION TO SHUT DOWN THE POWER PLANTS.
In the U.S. we have a bunch of similar stupid politicians.

Yes, the same stupid politicians (US) that squandered a $Trillion in so-called stimulus and didn't see fit to institute construction of a single new nuclear power plant to replace our dangerous and aging plants of the same design as Fukushima. Nah. We got bike lanes, bike bridges, solar panels, windmills and pet-projects.

Reckless. Unless there's new furor or concern over the Japan nuclear crisis, it will be another 20 years before there's the will to address this problem (unless, of course, we have our own 'crisis', at which time there will be a similar call to 'shut down the dangerous plants' while ignoring decades of negligent infrastructure 'non-planning').
