”Assaulting” is so abstract-sounding.

But bullying - now that is beyond the politically correct pale! It makes the Gentle Giant sound mean!

It's even worse. Assault is an act that creates aprehension of an imminent harmful attack. Battery is the harmful or offensive touching of another. The video clearly shows an offensive touching of the clerk. So Brown was guilty of assault & battery.
