Also, did they actually make it criminal to just wear a uniform? I thought the Stolen Valor Act made it illegal to make money off of fraudulent military service?

This guy claims to have 3 CIBs, which I believe is covered under the SVA, but he wasn’t trying to make money off of that. He’s just a phony.

Should it be illegal to wear the uniform if you didn’t? ABSOLUTELY! Is what this guy did a Federal crime? No. He should’ve had his ass beaten by the soldier filming this, though. Put me on that jury, and we’d be hung all day long.

From article: to obtain money, property or another “tangible benefit,” the text states. Stores sometimes give members of the military discounts for their service.

Didn't SCOTUS throw it out a few years back?

1. Press “Make” or “Rebuild All” to build the executable for the project:
Wearing some BDUs is fine, IF you don't wear the proper badges and insignia to impersonate a member of the military. At least that is what I was taught in ROTC.

I routinely wear surplus gear. It is well made and well designed for what I do.

However, I make sure it is striped of any patches, unit designations, rank insignia, name tags, national or branch affiliations.

If asked I freely state I did not serve in the Military, and ask people to reserve their praise or thanks for those who did, while thanking them for keeping our troops and veterans (among whom I count most of my friends) in mind.

I will claim no honor I do not deserve.
