Politically correct interpretations of the Constitution’s Uniform Rule of Naturalization Clause (1.8.4) aside, interpretations wrongly used to justify federal immigration laws, the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate immigration, immigration therefore uniquely a 10th Amendment-protected intrastate power issue.

Regarding federal appropriations for the purpose of immigration, the Supreme Court has historically clarified in general that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of state power issues.

“Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

So Congress and the Oval office shouldn’t even be discussing federal funding for immigration purposes, imo, unless the feds first successfully petition the states for an amendment to the Constitution which grants the feds the power to regulate immigration.

Don’t worry Repuglicans are bending over backwards to kiss the backside of Democraps and make sure the money continues to flow to their handlers.
There will be no repercussions and no decent.

Why not????

The media will yet again blame those “MEAN, EVIL, RACIST REPUBLICANS!”, just like the last time.

And the DC Repubs know it, too.

For all intent and purpose, the government shut down the week of Thanksgiving. Everyone is paid till the end of the year.

If anything, shutdown is a three week paid vacation for all federal employees. And even if they dont get paid, they will get back pay once the shutdown finishes.

So. Shut it down.

Shut it down but don’t give retroactive pay like last time.

Retroactive pay makes it no more than a pid vacation.

The Republican House and Senate need to agree to restructure spending bills so that bad funding is put in its own bill.

This will strip Obama of power, because it will divide clean “must pass” bills from the junk. They can send him clean bills with simple subjects first, that if he vetoes will make him look very bad.

Think, “The Be Kind To Puppies and Kittens” bill.

Then, if he signs those, the House and Senate just never get around to voting on bills with repugnant stuff. Obama can’t veto them if he never gets them.

Then let him shut down the obnoxious parts of the government. For example, if there is no funding at all for the EPA, what happens? Not a whole lot of anything for a year or two. The rest of the country can do without an EPA for a couple of years.

Since Obama has absolutely no regard for the country, I don’t expect him to try to join in any Congressional consensus at all. In fact, he will dig in and the real Obama will emerge. And as long as he can provide sexual excitation for a number of male members of the media, they will have his back.

When asked if Obama would veto a bill that prohibits federal funds from being spent to enact his executive amnesty, Earnest simply replied: "yes."

What would he do wit a bill that just doesn't include funding?

Does shutting it down also include sending the usurper back to the old neighborhood in Chicago and the Secret Service get sent back to their homes, too?
