he state uses an army of certified agents to guide around 40% of the people who enroll in Covered California, the states subsidized health-care system. And like any army, this one would like to get paid.
That hasnt been happening.
The Los Angeles Times reported last week that many of the 12,600 insurance agents havent been paid for months. Around 2,200 agents are owed around $2 million for shepherding Med-Cal patients through the system and the state doesnt intend to pay them before January.
These are probably the wrong people to piss off at the beginning of Covered Californias second annual enrollment, coming on the heels of a somewhat tarnished launch last year.
Agents signed up four times as many people as the 6,000 certified enrollment counselors hired and trained by the state.

This is what happens when you work for criminals.
How racist! That sign should be in Spanish.

Obama’s SEIU navigators are getting paid. These are independent licenced California insurance agents. That’s what is so pathetic about the article.
In Illinois several years ago, many places, including gas stations, refused to take the state’s credit card because they weren’t getting paid by the state. I wonder if California is about to go down the same path?
Well, if the State demands taxes and in return does not live up to it’s commitments, then it’s time to take the State away from the government. It’s as simple as that.
