After further review of this story, it seems the 19 year old murderer and his 14 year old victim were talking sex stuff. The game was simply the medium through which they met / communicated.
However, a story in which a 19 year old gay guy picks up and murders a 14 year old gay kid makes the gay narrative look bad - so it’s completely glossed over (at least, by ABC)
