ObamaCare Supporters Should Be Very Worried, Experts Say
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 12/11/2014 | John Merline

What would happen if the Supreme Court rules that ObamaCare doesn't allow subsidies through the federal exchange? There's plenty of speculation, ranging from no big deal to absolute, total catastrophe.

An article published on Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine tries to answer the question with a little bit more precision. It's conclusion, however, is that disallowing those subsidies would be a devastating blow to ObamaCare.

The majority signed up because they had no insurance and would be TOTALLY subsidized....and I'm betting 80%.

The rest signed up and would pay the fine which amounted to less than $100.

The real problem comes when they all find out that they have no...zip...."0" insurance unless they pay the outrageous rates.

I saw an estimate that when you include inflation the Black Friday sales were down not 11% but 20%. I think that the first full year of Obamacare rates had sucked the wind out of the economy. Many didn’t buy that new car, refrigerator or dry good. They don’t have the money. Next year will be worse.

Since the Clinton years and my early days here at FR, I've had my hopes dashed time-after-time on a variety of issues that appeared clear-cut and indisputably wrong, illegal, etc.

Needless to say, the outrages have accelerated at a dizzying pace since the 2008 campaign to elect Obama and his ascendance to emperor.

I hold little hope for a satisfactory resolution to anything. The truth doesn't matter, there's only what our overlords want for us.

I have thought on this and concluded that the consensus on both sides is that Obamacare will not survive the current matter to come before SCOTUS.

Both sides benefit from this course. The Republicans can do nothing and have the cataclysmic disaster resolved. The Democrats that haven’t condemned the law, including the President can blame the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court knowing public opinion can rule on the plain language and disallow exchanges.

Obamacare is over and just waiting to die

Inflation is zip.

I think people are going back to shopping normally. The Black Friday Sales just weren't there.

And folks are sick of the "they're all gone" an hour after the store opens.

Not too many folks who don't already have what they need.

Black Friday has seen its' day.

Even with the outrageous rates, there are still large deductibles. They have catastrophic coverage at best.

You’re probably correct since half the country is dependent on government handouts anyways.

Apart from the fabled Black Friday crowds (which by and large didn’t show up this year), people have begun to realize that Black Friday ads are followed at 48 hour intervals by additional come-ons. It’s become a fool’s game to try to figure out if today’s sale is bigger than yesterdays, or will be bigger than tomorrow’s.

I purchased two items on Black Friday sale on Amazon. Both were significantly from their normal price. Both arrived the second day with no extra charge

Inflation is zip.

Only the inflation that the government reports.

The Healthcare Act is going to be THE item that tanks the economy.

Wouldn't it be FUnnie if the swing voter on the Supreme Court said he could have gone the other way but finally decided to rule that federal exchanges could not get subsidies because that is what ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber clearly stated?

The first time around, my gut told me that SCOTUS wouldn't strike down the law because they couldn't resist the impulse to do something "historic."

But now Obamacare has been exposed as a complete disaster that no judge wants to be associated with. I can see a SCOTUS landslide.

With their Sebelius/Obamacare decision, SCOTUS lost their last shred of legitimacy. With an anti-American communist in the White House, the Executive branch lost its last shred of legitimacy. Last night, the GOP House allowed the lame duck session to push through a bloated spending bill that did nothing to stop Amnesty or Obamacare, and Congress confirmed that they deserved it long ago when they lost their last shred of legitimacy. FedGov is not on our side; it is not a government of the people, by the people, or for the people. Our only moral obligation to FedGov is to obey when they can compel us to do so - when we have no choice.

Perhaps SCOTUS will repeal Obamacare, and if so that will slow the death of our remaining freedom. A little. Perhaps the “Repulican” Congress of next year will stop Amnesty through another means. Perhaps I will find myself surrounded by unicorns and Skittles. My money is on the unicorns as the most likely of those options.

Agree. I KNEW they would somehow find for Obamacare. Roberts likely was blackmailed. ALL the arguments FOR Obamacare, in front of the SCOTUS, argued that the ‘fee’ was not a ‘TAX’. Yet the SCOTUS found that it could be considered a TAX and that finding allowed them to consider it Constitutional. I pray they reject the WHOLE THING. I’d also like to point out that the Dem Senators, now complaining about Obamacare, really wanted Socialized Medicine. That’s what they’re complaining about; NOT getting the Gov’t out of medical care in this country.
