Congressional critics ready to block Obama push to normalize Cuban relations
Fox News.com ^ | December 18, 2014

The historic plan announced by President Obama on Wednesday to normalize relations with Cuba was met with heavy bipartisan resistance on Capitol Hill, raising questions of whether Congress will even consider easing a more than 50-year trade embargo against the communist state -- let alone end it.

Obama said the United States will cease what he called an “outdated approach” with Cuba, and take steps to normalize diplomatic relations -- including opening an embassy in Havana -- after American Alan Gross was released from the country following five years in prison as part of an agreement that also included the release of three Cubans jailed in the U.S.

Congress sure does talk a lot. Too bad they don’t do much of anything else.

I’m waiting for Raul himself to mess it up.

The embargo excuse just can’t be let go.

If they have no one to blame their economic plight on,
then they’ll blame the leadership of their own country.

Can’t have that.

Kibuki resistance again? Isn’t Congress supposed to be an equal and balancing power with the executive? It is about time they do something to curb this traitors whims.

True.

Everything is blamed on the embargo when the problem is the system. As long as Cuba remains economically communist/socialist it will be poor.

The best that can be hoped for is the China model, communist keep political power why adopting a modified free market economy. Cuba is as big as China so I don't see anything happening.

We can apparently “normalize” relations with a Communist country only because we are now so much more like them.

Sadly, I'm anticipating something like the following will happen...

In his first public comments since President Obama unilaterally lifted sanctions against Cuba, House Majority Speaker John Boehner said: "While these executive actions on the part of the president is troubling to members of Congress, unfortunately we have limited options in dealing with his latest indiscretion. We have instead determined that at this time our time and energy is better left focused on jobs and the economy. Like I say, if "ands" and "buts" were candy and nuts, then everyday would be Christmas."

Threaten a lawsuit, when we’re all paying attention to the next scandal, they’ll drop the subject, and vote for them again in 2016.

Yep. They’re going to do ...... something.

Reminds me of “Pa Kettle”. He had two Indians who worked on the farm for him named “Gearduck” and “Crowbar”. In one of the movies he said “I’m gonna’ fix that barn. As soon as Gearduck and Crowbar get the time.”

Congress is going to do something when they find someone else to do it.

Congress ain’t gonna’ do crap and Obama knows it.

While we worry about Cuba there is a commie faction here that essentially want the same thing for the USA that they wanted for Russia/Soviet Union.

Some of the commonalities are gun control, political correctness, opposition to religions especially Christianity, pretend to be benevolent to the downtrodden as a power grab before they become tyrannical. They also encouraged a type of diversity and moving around different cultures (I.e Ukraine) as a means to weaken nationalism and unity, and insert their own ideology in local government.

Our relationship with Cuba does not bother me nearly as much as a Congress that kowtows on policies from an imperial President on amnesty and immigration that are so obviously counter to America’s interests.

Sucking up to Cuba exposes O's desperation....

Ohaha'll do anything to ditch the "All-time Democrat Loser" title Americans bestowed on him at midterms.

Putin better keep his pants on (/snix).

Ideologue Obama said he's "Not Done Yet," and has already gifted the world with Amnesty, ObamaCare, continuing racial unrest complete with 60's-era looting and burning, with Communist Cuba thrown in the WH garbage pile, for good measure.

HE'S HAVING WET DREAMS AGAIN All of Obama's most execrable activities serve to cherry-pick specific left-Democrat constituencies.....to serve his goal of a permanent Democrat majority.

Too bad midterm voters didn't go along with it.

=======================================

Taken by itself, Obama's newest brainchild---Operation Choke Point---epitomizes imperial governance. But when combined with his, and Holder's, aggressive use of civil forfeiture and Internal Revenue Service seizures of assets for no cause, a picture of government run amok emerges.

These govt-sponsored schemes strip ordinary Americans and business owners of their most basic rights simply because Obama doesn’t believe in them, fundamentally transforming the nation into little more than a banana republic in the process.

Choke Point sounds like another train wreck in the continuing saga of The Obama/Holder Extortion Unlimited. Obama told Joe the Plumber he was going to spread the wealth around. Nobody realized it would be going to idiots like Jonathan Gruber, to Obama's lefty community organizers....and into all those secret offshore accounts. Valerie Jarret is Obama's "Deputy Senior Advisor"---in Chicago gangland parlance that means "Wire Transfer Artist."

==========================================

Obama long ago ran out of ideas and is now publicly showing how he is running out of torment options.....and is resorting to his community organizer con man schemes....like extortion.

The Deranged Progressive Mind At Work: Community organizer Obama coerced and sued banks into providing “dignity mortgages” to deadbeats w/ no intentions of paying up----a big part of how struggling taxpayers got soaked in the bailout financial crisis.

Now as president, Obama's siccing the US Justice Dept on banks b/c a buncha dumbos got stuck w/ mortgages they can't possibly pay.

As Investors’ Business Daily concludes: The Obama/Holder bank actions have little, if anything, to do with “justice” or restitution for innocent victims. In its 30-page “statement of facts,” Justice couldn’t provide a single shred of evidence that BofA had committed fraud. Nor could Holder ID a single “victim” by name.

(The effect of the serial Obama/Holder bank heist is that) lenders are bankrolling the same lefty parasites that bled them for the risky loans that burdened American taxpayers. With endless streams of cash, Obama/Holder enables lefties to ramp up their shakedown campaign.....repeating the Obamacycle of dangerous political lending that wrecked the economy.

Obama and Holder are punishing banks over and over again---extorting billions of dollars from the largest banks and giving it away to Obama's lefty political friends---major suck-ups to his favorite liberal causes.
