North Korea goes completely offline: Report
CNBC ^ | 12-22-14 | Everett Rosenfeld

Posted on 12/22/2014 1:57:53 PM PST by Colehill1999

North Korea is having major Internet problems, just days after President Barack Obama promised a proportional response to the devastating hacks against Sony.

The country, which the FBI accused last week of the cyberattack, is suffering a total Internet outage that experts at DYN Research said is out of the ordinary, as first reported by North Korea Tech. According to the research firm, North Korea's Internet connectivity grew steadily worse beginning Sunday night, and then went completely offline Monday morning.

"I haven't seen such a steady beat of routing instability and outages in KP before," Doug Madory, director of Internet analysis at DYN Research, told North Korea Tech. "Usually there are isolated blips, not continuous connectivity problems. I wouldn't be surprised if they are absorbing some sort of attack presently."

you can hope, but it is not. The really old stuff is still hardened, but everybody has a windows laptop that talks to a Microsoft server now and that is the only thing they use,

My dad was addicted to Missile Command. He would literally make me stop doing homework so he could play me at that game. I would usually beat him, but he loved seeing the next color screen as I would make another level.

If North Korea managed to inflict this on the United States, we'd consider it an act of war.

No, Obama would bow, apologize for America being America, then ask how we can help them.

Why do I feel like this is a set up from our dear leader to get more control of the internet? Something smells.

I sincerely believe that Obama directed the attack against Somy then blamed the Norks.

At face value what could possibly be the motivation for Obama to do this ?

So he can arrange a US internet hack that shuts down the EBT cards...and blame it on the Norks...

Meanwhile civil strife breaks out when EBT cards stop working nation wide.

No, not what I implied or suggested. My point is even some of our most sensitive and secured networks can be and have been compromised. It won’t be the last time. Cyber warfare is quite real. Most in the biz have understood this for many years. It can and likely will get very ugly.

Look at that mouse in the photo. Isn't it one of those that was popular for gaming back in the early '90'?

Maybe he is using MS DOS. lol

“I sincerely believe that Obama directed the attack against Somy then blamed the Norks.

suppose the us government wanted to test its ability to shut down an entire country. they would need to test on a country that has two attributes. very few real friends, and anemic enough that any retaliation would be weak.
what better way than to have the nsa do an attack on sony, blame it on north korea, and then, not only does the government get to test its ability, but Obama gets to look good as everyone assumes its the us that shut korea down.

Absolutely....we’re in cyber wars, economic and trade wars now...and it’s definately getting ugly.

Putin forgives Cuba 34 Billion debt...then Ob lifts trade etc. with Cuba....

It’s all a mad rush for resources, trade and economy’...of course oil too.

Looks like some very influential people here are wanting a war against China.

Doesn't Dianne Feinstein's husband do business with the Chi-coms? Sells them heavy equipment?

You mean to tell me you don’t have a single clue why
the Obama would do this? Not one single inkling of a
notion? Just sayin.

Why would Obama hack Sony and blame the norks...?

I can’t think of one compelling logical reason to do that when there are plenty of other more pervasive ways to achieve whatever nefarious goals you believe....

Sorry I need all the tin foil in the house for Christmas dinner...
