The process of going “sick” on this job is very easy. You just have to call in and you are entitled to two shifts off. However, if an unusually high number of officers call out sick they can be ordered to go see a department surgeon who will verify if they are sick or not and can order them into work. The penalties for not showing up to work when ordered to can be relatively severe.
