Good points.

Global corporatists is a good descriptor perhaps even better than the one I use which is ‘Oligarchs’.

But ‘global corporatists’ also suggests wealthy foreign parties. I know for a fact that the Saudis are putting their cash behind certain members of the US Chamber of Commerce.

Both are effectively what they are. The oligarchs get rich because they had connections, and they were cronies, and were able to steal assets of the people at bargain basement prices or get special deals as did those at Solyndra and Wall Street. That’s how they did it in Russia too. Crony capitalism...America has too much of it where some get rich off the back of average taxpayers, and not because they are honest competent business men.

When I hear a clamor from politicians to privatize this or that, I know that underlying it all, will be a quid pro quo deal to make connected cronies rich along with the crooked politicians while the taxpayers will lose what was their asset. I generally oppose privatization of most historic government functions like prisons, military functions, highways and parking etc because in my experience even more cronyism and corruption follows.
