Iran general killed during battle against ISIL in Iraq
A senior Iranian military officer has lost his life in the battle against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in Iraq.
The Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) stated on Sunday that Brigadier General Hamid Taqavi was killed while on an advisory mission in the holy city of Samarra.
The statement added that Taghavi was killed while conducting the mission in cooperation with the Iraqi army and popular mobilization (forces) to counter the ISIL Takfiri militants in the vicinity of the shrine of (the eleventh Shia Imam) Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him).
Samarra , located around 110 kilometers (68 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, is home to the shrines of the tenth and eleventh Shia Imams, Ali al-Hadi (peace be upon him) and Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him).
Taqavi was a military commander during the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war against Iran.
A funeral procession will be held for Taqavi at 9:00 a.m. local time (0530 GMT) Monday in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
His body will be transferred to and buried in his hometown Ahvaz, southwestern Iran, on December 30.
Iran has repeatedly stressed that it will not interfere militarily in Iraq and Syria, but the Islamic Republic continues to provide support to both countries against ISIL in the form of defense consultancy and humanitarian aid.
At the onset of the ISIL advances in Iraq, the Islamic Republic took rapid steps to mobilize popular forces in the country.
Tehran has also refused to join the so-called US-led coalition against ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
The Takfiri militants have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against all Syrian and Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds.
P!
Religion of Peace ping!
So, is this good or bad? Perhaps it will trigger a messy war with many muslims killed on both sides

It has. A lot of Christians have been horribly butchered, too, unfortunately.

WOW, they don’t like anybody do they.
Will Biden attend the funeral?
Was it ISIS or ISIL? Does it matter? Ask our President.
Send in Joe Biden.
This just proves once again that whoever wins this war in the Mid East will still be our enemy.
Not the first one in Samarra this http://www.rferl.org/content/iran-iraq-irgc-death-isil-moshajari/25424430.html is from June.
Just stunning how it is that people forget that these sandrats have to march hundreds of miles between ‘Holy Cities’ and that B52s could end this ENTIRE mess in a couple strikes.
Iran now has bigger skin in the game in spite of words of not getting too involved. The mess could have largely been avoided if we left a sizeble military contingent in Iraq like our Generals recommended.
We could have kicked ISIS butt in the early stages and avoided a mess. Another blunder by the Hawaii boy king.
Iraq-Iran War. Remember those days? Talk about win-win.
Press TV is an Iranian propaganda arm.
Gen. Taghavi was commander in chief of Irans Iraqi Shiite militias, who are fighting the Islamic State under the aegis of the Rev. Guards.
Depends on what the meaning of ISIS.
Biden: "Stand up Hasan, stand up".
It would be a good idea for ISIS to join Saudi Arabia in its efforts to destroy Iran. Maybe they already have.
ISIS is dependent on oil revenues, which have been collapsing due to Saudi Arabia’s desire to defeat its arch-enemy, Shiite Iran. The sooner that happens, the sooner Saudi Arabia will raise oil prices, which will allow ISIs to stay in business.
So an alliance between Saudi Arabia and ISIS, in which the Saudis paid ISIS to concentrate on killing Iranian generals preparatory to invading Iran and then eliminating the Ayatollahs and their nuclear threats, would be ideal for both Saudi Arabia and ISIS.
In the meantime, with Iran in a state of increasing chaos, Israel’s prime minister might finally manage to muster the courage to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities into oblivion, and the whole world would be better off.
