BRITAIN’S chaotic climate threatens to unleash A YEAR of freakish weather starting with a FIVE-MONTH Arctic freeze.
Freezing gales, snow and harsh frosts will hold out until May thanks to plunging temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean.
The entire year is likely to be dogged by cold blasts with a washout summer on the way, experts said.
They say a bizarre set of circumstances have come together to drive erratic weather patterns through the year.
In the immediate future Britain could be facing the worst winter freeze for a century with a bout of violent winter storms just around the corner..
A colossal mass of cold water in the Atlantic Gulf Stream will lead to “horrific” blizzards, freezing gales weeks of sub-zero gales temperatures right through winter and spring.
Britain’s weather will be dominated by a negative North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) in 2015 which will drag swathes of freezing air in from the Arctic.
James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, blames unusually low solar activity for one of the warmest years on record potentially being followed by the coldest.
He explained the Gulf Stream acts like a “heat machine” for the UK climate with any cooling down likely to drastically affect the weather.
He said: “Although 2014 has proved to be a warm year with every month except August featuring an above-average Central England Temperature, 2015 will be significantly cooler overall.
“Real time satellite images from the National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA) over the past few months have clearly indicated a colossal area of much colder than average surface temperatures in the middle of the Gulf Stream/Atlantic.
“This is of quite some significance as the Gulf Stream effectively acts as a heat machine for our shores, in particular, during our winter months.
“Without the influence of this vital heat source, we can expect a horrific winter to develop with frequent blizzards, strong winds and extremely cold conditions across many parts of the country.”
He warned a major big freeze is on the way which when bedded in could stay put well into the beginning of this year (2015).
Volcanic activity in Iceland which threw millions of tonnes of ash into the upper atmosphere blocking out sunlight will also play a part, he said.
“This will also become quite apparent throughout the remainder of winter and into the early part of 2015, and for what is also likely to be a much colder than average spring period.
“It could certainly have a bearing on a much colder than average and potentially quite snowy spring.

“There is also the potential for this to have an impact on a much cooler summer, especially if we combine this with the recent volcanic activity in Iceland which I think will impact our summer.
“There is every chance that we could be looking at a very similar scenario to the winter of 1962/63.”
Low solar activity defines a period when the sun is less magnetically active and throws out less heat towards Earth.
Solar radiation is essential for heating the oceans with the subsequent warmer currents affecting the climate.
The catastrophic big freeze of 1962/63 coincided with a period of low solar activity with experts warning this year could see a repeat.
Mr Madden added: “The amount of solar radiation that we receive have an important bearing on the heating of ocean currents such as the Gulf Stream, which is especially significant to the likes of the UK and Ireland.
“During the winter period of 1962/63 the famous big freeze took a hold of the country from around Christmas until the spring of the following year because of a similar situation.
“Several feet of snow fell in parts of southern England; temperatures dropped to below -20C (-4F) in places, and snow remained on the ground for months on end.
“We could also be looking at a very similar time-frame and scale of events this time around, in particular, as we progress throughout into January and February.”
Britain’s weather has been dogged by abnormal temperatures, rainfall and big freezes over the past few years.
In 2010 the entire country endured one of the severest winters on record with weeks of sub-zero temperatures and heavy snowfall.
Then 2011 turned out to be the second warmest ever overall despite summer failing to set any records.
Parts of the country were officially declared to be in drought after week upon week of no rainfall.
Local authorities issued a raft of hosepipe bans while reservoirs dropped to worryingly low levels and rivers dried out.
The weather then turned again on its head in 2012 when weeks of persistent rainfall left swathes of the country under feet of floodwater.
At the time, Vicky Pope, a climate scientist at the Met Office warned Britain’s weather was turning more erratic.
She said: "We have flipped from a dramatic drought to the reverse in one year, and it is very possible we will see this much more frequently.”
She was right as the following summer brought a historic heatwave which saw Britain roast in the hottest day for seven years.
The mercury shot to 33.5C (92.3F) at Heathrow and Northolt in west London in July.
Though weather models rarely agree on longer-term outlooks the overall forecast for the next month at least is cold.
According to the Met Office’s contingency planner Britain will experience below average temperatures at least until the end of January.
It is also looking wet with predictions swinging in favour of above-average rainfall for the next three months.
Leon Brown, forecaster for The Weather Channel UK, said although today will be milder than of late, another bout of stormy weather is just around the corner.
He said: “New Year's Day will be mild, wet and windy over the north and the rain moving south later in the day.
“The week ends colder again with dry and sunny weather in the south but a lot of showers over the north west. Snow for high ground in West and North Scotland.
“Next week looks changeable and often windy and wet.
“Gales likely in the middle of next week as a very deep Atlantic depressions pass to the north of the UK.”
I’m intrigued by this
The sun causes global warming theory.
Is this the part of Earth that is exempt from global warming?
Yes.
Lol.
Wait...
This simply cannot be true.
Just earlier today there was an article on FR telling us that due to Global Warming causing WARMER OCEANS, we were all going to die unless we paid more taxes, and bought carbon credits to make rich libs like Al Gore even richer!
Ah.
So then all should be well, for them, no?
;]
so when will Al Gore head there to call for a summit?
Wait...

An inch of Snow and....the sky is falling!
It is just following the regular 25year cycle.
They have noticed that the public is no longer buying the warming story so they would point at Andromida as a cause if they thought they would get away with it.
Personally, I suspect that Pluto is exacting its brutal, frigid revenge.
And rightly so.
That was a vicious act of betrayal.
Poor Pluto.
Socialist hell is closer to freezing over?
See - I told you Global Warming was real. :)
For some reason - I think it must have been the mead - the ancient Brits chose to locate their civilization at 50 degrees North latitude. It was cold as hell then. It's going to be cold as hell now. I understand there are some great time-shares available in Spain...
You know it. I think I feel a song coming on!
PANIC!!!
The global warming will kill you. Head for the hills
Great communist scheme to cull the population. Claim man made global warming....tax petrol, coal and our breath making heating unaffordable. Arctic temps. We all freeze. Mission accomplished. Dead.
I’m sure the Pope will be telling us what to do about the Sun’s cycles.
