Get rid of the mandates, allow insurance companies to sell insurance plans, and “do not” kill Obamacare. Let folks choose whether they want Obamacare or free market insurance.

Sounds good but that’s impossible. Obamacare is at its core a redistribution-of-wealth scheme where the diminishing “wealth” of the middle class is distributed to insurance companies, bureaucrats and in much smaller amounts to the poor.
No such government wealth redistribution scheme could ever be voluntary. The Republican party’s big corporate donors will benefit greatly when they can stop providing health insurance and let the government take care of it all. This is why the Republican party will spend however long it takes polishing this turd and not doing anything meaningful. They are all in on it.
Eliminating the mandates would be a very important step, but there are a lot of extra taxes in the Obamacare law that you are forgetting about. The best thing is to kill it outright, go back to 2007, and start from there, limiting the lawyers, for one thing.
