TZ, NEVER sell a car with valid plates. In Alaska, and probably other states, the plates stay with the car. There is a form at the bottom of the title that you fill out and send or take to DMV indicating you sold the car to another party.

TZ, NEVER sell a car with valid plates. Take off the plates upon delivery. Problem solved. You can't do that in California. The plates stay with the car upon transfer. I don't know about MN.
