Jyllands-Posten defends Charlie Hebdo decision

As the only major Danish newspaper not to republish Charlie Hebdo content in the wake of the Paris terror attacks, the newspaper behind the Muhammad cartoon crisis 'grudgingly" puts his employees well-being first .Jyllands-Posten, the Danish newspaper that caused global controversy by publishing cartoons of the prophet Muhammad was the only major Danish daily Thursday not to carry any illustrations from the French weekly Charlie Hebdo.

Jyllands-Posten sparked protests across the Muslim world - some of which turned lethal - after its 2005 publication of 12 cartoons that included a picture of the Islamic prophet wearing a bomb in a turban.

They were reprinted in Charlie Hebdo - where 12 died in a jihadist attack on its Paris offices Wednesday – in February 2006 in solidarity with Jyllands-Posten, sparking further anger and threats by radical Islamists.

Despite having previously praised Charlie Hebdo for standing “shoulder to shoulder with Jyllands-Posten when it really mattered,” the Danish newspaper’s top-ranking editor did not republish the French magazine’s work following Wednesday’s deadly attack. In a strongly-worded editorial printed the day after the firebomb attack, Jyllands-Posten thanked Charlie Hebdo for standing by it in 2006 and said Western media should refuse to be intimidated by violence.

“Charlie Hebdo stood shoulder to shoulder with Jyllands-Posten when it really mattered and when many other media outlets were busy looking the other way. At Jyllands-Posten, we fully understand the rage and frustration, and also the feeling of helplessness, that must be affecting Charlie Hebdo’s employees and owners right now,” the Danish newspaper wrote.

“Will violence win? One must be firm in their faith to simply brush aside that question. Does violence work? Here one must unfortunately answer in the affirmative. But this much is certain: if you bow to violence, you won’t get less violence, but more,” the newspaper continued.

"I maintain the right as an editor to be able to print all types of drawings again at some point. Just not right now," Jyllands-Posten editor Jørn Mikkelsen told his own newspaper.

"The same debate has been going on now for 10 years, for or against the drawings and so on. We must move on," he added.

Police have foiled several terror threats against the daily since it published the Muhammad cartoons, where security has been ramped up and the editor who commissioned the drawings, Flemming Rose, has been living under police protection.

Mikkelsen admitted that his staff's security had been part of the decision not to run any illustrations from the French satirical magazine.

"The truth is that for us it would be completely irresponsible to print old or new Prophet drawings right now," he said.

"Many would not like to admit that. I do, albeit very grudgingly. Jyllands-Posten has a responsibility to itself and its employees," he added.

Denmark's other two main broadsheets, Politiken and Berlingske, both published a series of Charlie Hebdo's most memorable covers, including one that appeared to show Muhammad being pushed in a wheelchair by a Jewish man.

The daily Information also republished the ‘Charia Hebdo’ cover, while tabloid Ekstra Bladet renamed itself Charlie Hebdo for the day in honour of the French cartoonists gunned down on Wednesday, apparently in retaliation for the magazine's defiant stance in publishing cartoons satirising Islam

The Local has decided to not publish the Charlie Hebdo or Jyllands-Posten cartoons.

I understand Jyllandsposten. The outpouring of support for Charlie Hebdo that is coming now is to late.

I understand them too. They are cowards. Intimidation works.

‘I maintain the right as an editor to be able to print all types of drawings again at some point. Just not right now,’

The motto of the print pussies of the world.
No wonder the Moslems are breeding Scandinavian women like cows. The Moslems aren’t impotent like the present pallid sons of the Norsemen.

I have come to the realization that Moderate Muslims are the cause of the terrorists. When I see newspapers trying to defend moderates, I ask myself where did the terrorists come from? And why aren’t there Moderate Muslims speaking loudly, and clearly, and publicly that these terrorists are horrible savages.

The reality is that these savages grow up in moderate mosques that quietly condone eye for and eye. They quietly preach terror. And when the terrorists attack, they are quiet, except to say, don’t blame us.

And that’s our mistake. We should be blaming all Muslims that don’t stand on the front lines against terrorism. We should demand it of them before we write articles protecting them.

The truth is that after these Moderate Muslims create their little war machines. They are afraid of them too. They know if they stand up against the radicals they may be harmed. So they would rather sit back and watch the war, hoping neither side notices them.

But we should blame all of them until they publicly, loudly, clearly, speak out against the radicals and All they stand for.

Don't you know the history of JP. this is the newspaper that first printed the famous cartoons. They have been very alone in their fight for freedom of speech since 2006. Numerous terror plots against them have been
thwarted. It is newspaper that for years have needed extremely high security and bodyguards against violent muslims.

They showed real bravery and supported Charlie hebdo as well long before it became a popular hashtag.

I cut them some slack. Their state does not allow the tools needed to protect oneself. It easy it bad mouth the muslims for a machine gun nest.

Ancient history of braver men is irrelevant to the case at hand.
He would oppose Nazi death camps, but not right now.
He would oppose Soviet death camps, some other time, just not right now, that would be ‘completely irresponsible’.
He would oppose frivolous abortions, just a little later, not now.
He would oppose raping children, sometime, perhaps, just not right now.
He would oppose enslaving blacks, just not right now.
He would oppose cruelty to animals, but he has to think of himself and his employees.

The Jullands-Posten has been neutered, gelded, castrated and disgraced.
One of the interesting traits of cowards is their capacity to deny their cowardice.
They say they will be brave, ‘just not right now’.

“Real bravery” my ass.
