Slowdown has cost city over $46M in lost revenue
The New York Post ^ | January 12, 2015 | Michael Gartland and Leonard Greene

It’s the high price of the NYPD slowdown. Feuding between cops and City Hall has already cost the city more than $46 million in lost parking-ticket revenue — staggering losses that could take a bite out of critical programs and services, critics charged Sunday.

“It’s not a natural disaster — this is man made,” said Glen Bolofsky, president of Parkingticket.com, a ticket-fighting service which crunched the numbers.

Because ticket revenue is accounted for in the city’s budget — $518 million a year, according to a November 2014 Office of Management and Budget report — the spectrum of a budgetary shortfall has become real.

“There obviously are some financial ramifications,” said Councilman Brad Lander (D-Brooklyn).

The drain amounts to more dough than the city lost in ticket revenue to Superstorm Sandy — because the feds eventually reimbursed those millions.

Hence, Brattons' attempted crackdown on the NYPD ticket-writing slowdown.

It's all about the money (and not public safety).

Yay! Parking problem solved. Now fire the police who want to sit on their butts while working overtime and planning on a pension.

Well, it is a start, plus the real purpose of the ticket writing is exposed.

So, you & I had to pay the parking tickets instead?

Like I said earlier, ticket & boot the diplomatic cars. Let the UN pay for 'civil disturbance' in NYC.

Trash the blue and wind up in red. Nothing cutting a few socialist programs wouldn’t fix on the budget. Maybe Al Sharpton could be given ticket writing priveleges with a small finders fee for each one issued, ehheheheheh.

Yeah no jonke, I am fricking tired of walking past rows of cop cars hogging all the close in parking so the taxpayers have to take the far away parking and scramble.

Exactly.

Both Bratton and de Blazio should resign.

And we, the tax payers will reimburse these millions.

Well, every small town better get reimbursed for lost speeding ticket revenue from flooded roads, too. Right?

That's not how they think. Police and fire are usually first on the list of budget cuts in order to scare the peons back in line. This could get real ugly before it's over.

All Out War Against NYPD
No time due, no medical time, no anything, until they generate revenue:

It’s a slowdown showdown.

At precincts across the city, top brass are cracking the whip on summons activity and even barring many cops from taking vacation and sick days, The Post has learned.

Throughout the city, precincts are being ordered to hand up to borough commanders “activity sheets” indicating the number of arrests and summonses per shift, sources told The Post.

“Police officers around the city are now threatened with transfers, no vacation time and sick time unless they write summonses,” one union source said.

“This is the same practice that caused officers to be labeled racist and abusers of power.”

In our comment sections, we deleted a number of ignoramuses who said members of the NYPD should be ashamed, fired, drawn and quartered for laying down and not arresting criminals. As you can see, it isn’t about the arrests and no one from the NYPD has advocated not arresting criminals.

What the police have objected to, and what is being demonstrated here by the politicians, is not citing people for revenue driven offenses....like red light cameras, “school” speeding, public drinking, so-called “morals” offenses that serve only to bring in revenue.

It seems to us that the NYPD is winning. If they’re being ordered to write what are essentially ANOV’s in order to bring citizens before unelected “hearing officers” who’s only loyalty is to generate money for the city, then the administration is obviously in a panic that cash flow is drying up.

Oops. Should have thought of that before bad mouthing the very organization that is an essential part of making the city livable.

Police Quotas Are Terrible, And The NYPD Still Seems To Be Using Them
Posted: 10/02/2014

NEW YORK — If there’s one subject on which New York City police unions and police reform advocacy groups seem to agree, it’s this: Arrest quotas for police officers are terrible and counterproductive, and they sow distrust between cops and communities.

When NYPD Commissioner William Bratton took office in January, he promised an end to arrest quotas, as well as the numbers-driven policing culture championed by his predecessor, Ray Kelly. “I want to focus on the quality of police actions, with less emphasis on our numbers and more emphasis on our actual impact,” Bratton said in a video statement.

But 10 months into Bratton’s tenure as top cop, a new report claims that quotas — which are illegal under New York state law — remain alive and well in the NYPD.

“Though police brass well deny it, here’s how the quota system works and does harm: Precinct Captains or Lieutenants, under pressure from police headquarters, direct officers to meet specific goals regarding arrests and summonses and deploy the officers in particular neighborhoods,” said Robert Gangi, director of the Police Reform Organizing Project, in an emailed press statement. On Tuesday, Gangi’s group released a report calling on Bratton and Mayor Bill de Blasio to put an end to the quota system.

It is time for De Blasio and Bratton to learn to live and fear like ordinary citizens. Their security details need to take a long break, develop blue flu, whatever and let these idiots fend for themselves.

It’s called “stacking arms” and it is the same as desertion. Tell the Blue to get back to work, it is not a choice. Do their job or get fired.

NYPD on High Alert Following ISIS Call to ‘Rise Up and Kill Police Officers’

by Jordan Schachtel11 Jan 2015

The New York City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies have been alerted to a new threat raised by the Islamic State terror group. The jihadist entity released a new video on Saturday urging fellow jihadists to “rise up” against the U.S. and other Western states.

ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammed al Adnani told those loyal to the Islamic State to “rise up and kill intelligence officers, police officers, soldiers, and civilians” in the U.S., Canada, France, and Australia. “Do not let the battle pass you by wherever you may be. Strike their police, security, and intelligence members, as well as their treacherous agents,” Adnani added. He suggested that if his holy warriors did not have an explosive device or a firing weapon, they should instead “smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car.”

CNN received an NYPD internal memo that stressed law enforcement should “remain alert and consider tactics at all times while on patrol.”
