A Fort Hood soldier who just returned from West Africa and was self-monitoring for Ebola symptoms was found dead on Tuesday outside his apartment, officials said.

Killeen police and hazmat teams arrived after 911 calls came in of a man's body on the front lawn of his home, which is just outside the base.

Fort Hood said that the 24-year-old man, who has not been named, had returned on January 7 as part of a 87-person team assigned to West Africa for three months and was found dead at around 7.30am.

Carrie Williams, director of media relations for Texas Department of State Health Services, told CBS News the man was stationed in Liberia.

And you find that normal

I think you are reading things into my words that aren't there.

I have been searching the press releases, and the cause of death has not be released yet. I think it will be soon.

It seems to be suicide. I don't find that normal, or common, but understandable given he returned due to a family death.

I’m wasting a lot of time here

Hopefully not, and both of us have learned more about the case. It's not a waste if you learn something.

Doubtful it would kill that fast.

Ebola attacks the organs. Some people may have a weakness in an organ like the heart that the virus can quickly attack.

It doesn’t say if they suspect he contracted Ebola or was shot. Just that there is a body. Pretty scant information.

Prayers for the deceased soldier and his grieving family. Curses upon POTUS if this young soldier died of a disease he contracted on that unnecessary (for the US Army) mission.

Thanks, BO. Your plan to destroy our military is working just as your evil little mind hoped it would.

Some people may have a weakness in an organ like the heart...

Especially those who return home because someone in their family died.

The initial screening indicates that he did not have and he did not die of Ebola.

I will stick with that story and not panic.

“The body tests negative for Ebola.”

His could the body test negative for Ebola when the media is in a frenzy and suspecting he did have Ebola?

The cause of death has not been announced.

Could be anything from a heart attack to a random shooting or whatever.

“Frenzies” come easy! ;-) But on a serious note, I don’t think I have ever heard a number for hours/days of viability of the Ebola virus in a dead body.

Who in the world decided that it was a good idea for normal people were to diagnose themselves? It was a very libertarian idea, but a lot of people are just not qualified for that.

WHERE IS THE AMERICAN MEDIA?

Very, very controlled like the rest of the world's media for at least 3 months now.

You don’t think it prudent to use hazmat suits when the cause of death is unknown? The hospital I work at uses hazmat procedures for all unknown pathogens in the cases of unexplained death.

“When in doubt suit up” is the new normal FRiend.
