Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, has accepted an invitation to attend a ceremony in Moscow on May 9 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany.
The invitation was extended by Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, and will be the young dictator's first overseas trip since he became head of state after the death of his father, Kim Jong-il, in December 2011.
While other world leaders might be reluctant to extend a welcoming hand to a pariah state that frequently threatens to turn the capital cities of its enemies to "seas of fire", Mr Putin does not apparently mind where his new friends hail from.
A spokesman for the Russian leader has confirmed that Moscow had invited "representatives of anti-Hitler coalition countries and many others" to the event, the Russian news agency TASS reported.

The real Kim or one of his look a likes?
We were an “anti-Hitler” country. No invite for Comrade Obozo?
Kim’s favorite ploy is to rattle his pretend sword and threaten the US or South Korea and we throw him a few billion to make him shut up. If we just ignored him, his people would throw him out when all they have left is a dirt sandwich.
