ARKANSAS (KFSM) An Arkansas lawmakers newly-introduced bill would require women taking abortion pills to take that medication in front of a doctor and with the doctors permission.
Rep. Julie Mayberry (R-Hensley) introduced House Bill 1076 to the Arkansas State Legislature. The bill states, When mifepristone or another drug or chemical is used to induce an abortion, the initial administration of the drug or chemical shall occur in the same room and in the physical presence of the physician who prescribed, dispensed or otherwise provided the drug or chemical to the patient.
The drafted bill goes on to state it would require the patient to follow up with the doctor 12 to 18 days later to confirm the abortion has worked and to assess the patients medical condition.
A doctor violating the requirements of the bill would be stripped of their physician license, the proposed law states.

What’s shocking is that a physician present and a follow up visit aren’t required.
This is a good start, but should soon be expanded to include all pills, devices and chemicals that may induce abortion or destroy an embryo.
“To require that the patient ...”
The murder is not a patient but a murderer. So, replace “doctor” with a warden, perhaps.
How does that help?
“How does that help?”
It helps if a wanna-be murderer(”patient” or “mother”) gets arrested and jailed.
That’s not within the realm of the law at this time. In theory, a state government could pass a complete ban on abortion. A court would overturn it. I strongly doubt that the Supreme Court would hear an appeal.
My point is that pussy-footing around it is just ridiculous. How about a law to require jump 2 feet before allowing abortion? Or be able to swim 5 laps.
If abortion is wrong, ban it. Don’t force doctors to witness the murder.
I agree, but a state law can't do that. It will be overturned.
Dont force doctors to witness the murder.
I think they're doing it voluntarily, for money.
The point of this proposed AR law is to make abortion more expensive and less convenient. This reduces the incidence. However, the law in this form, even if passed, will never take effect. If there's another legal drug that requires a doctor's presence while you take it, I don't know of it. If my doctor gives me a prescription for antibiotics, I don't have to go to his office to take each dose.
