Full Title: Samir Kamal, Libyas governor for oil cartel Opec for the past two years, has disappeared in Tripoli.
The senior manager at the countrys Ministry of Oil has not been seen since leaving his place of work on Thursday afternoon, numerous media reports say.
Reports in Libya suggest he was abducted and had resisted attempts by some individuals to profit from his position as a representative of the major North African producer at Opec.
The Vienna-headquartered 12-member organisation has so far resisted pressure to slash output amid continued oil price weakness.
Earlier this month Kalam told Reuters: "Something should be done by Opec countries to reinstate its role to stabilise the market, ensuring a fair price for both producers and consumers. He emphasised, however, that he was not speaking on behalf of the Libyan government.
Disappeared?
“Doctor, the Invisable Man is here”
“Tell him I can’t see him.”
