The corrupt feds now wrongly ignore that the Supreme Court has historically clarified that Congress cannot lay taxes in the name of state power issues, essentially any issue that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
A good point though I am not familiar with that decision. It certainly does not stop congress and even the federal courts from imposing taxes. As you state the heart of the issue is the corruption. Since the people are no longer moral nor virtuous nor are their representatives, we will have to amend the constitution to protect us and our freedoms from them. And we will have to be ready to enforce the amendments.
