In general, this is the most important book to come out of the Obama period of American history.
My only criticism of Attkison is the sterling reputation she imputes to the University of Florida J-school.
My wife was a contemporary of Attkison at the college of journalism and communication and I can tell you first hand it was every bit as, if not more, corrupt as CBS which Attkison laments.
Two quick examples: first what we call “the Trish rule.” Prior to my wife having an article published in the University’s only conservative publication, “The Florida Review,” j-school students got extra credit for any published work.
The semester AFTER she invoked this credit, the rule was changed to only “accredited” publications: “accredited” being left undefined.
Also, the College of Journalism and Communication STOLE the privately owned paperboxes used to distribute The Florida Review and hid them in a storage area of said College. When confronted about the theft, the College claimed they were removed because they constituted a fire hazard; the hazard being that a few of the boxes were targets of an ARSON ATTACK by unknown parties on campus.
Close you eyes and it was Woodard instead Attkison
