This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us while supporting partners on the front lines is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years, and it is consistent with the approach I outlined earlier this year: to use force against anyone who threatens America’s core interests, but to mobilize partners wherever possible to address broader challenges to international order.

I suspect things are proceeding in Yemen rather as the Sultan had hoped. Sunni would be better than Shia but Shia is better than Pro US.

Yes they do. And the great dumbed-down American public doesn't even know where Yemen is much less give a hoot about what happens there or how it affects them.

Which is why Obama would rather ice a jihadi with a drone-fired Hellfire than take him prisoner so that we can interrogate him. The maintenance of prisoners & a prison system is high-profile and not something even his brain-dead supports can ignore or miss. Plus the Intel gleaned from these guys might show — shall we say — evidence of some policy-footsie going on between Obama & the bigwig jihadists.
