This psychiatrist attributes Liberals' desires trying to compensate for a stunted or traumatized childhood. That interpretation may have some validity. As a Christian, I attribute it to a sinful and completely unrealistic desire to be their own (and others') god.

I agree with everything up until the psychobabble of the last six paragraphs. The vast majority of liberals I know grew up in happy, loving families. Leave it to a shrink to make everything a pathology. In my experience liberalism is misplaced altruism, combined with guilt that others have it worse than they do.
