another form of energy to replace oil is going to be required.

Yes....our oil, on our terms.

There's nothing wrong with oil...it's a gift from God.

you have to think
out of the box.
We have plenty of oil off shore and on ‘federal’ land that could be drilled cheaper.
Also a SMART govt could buy up the ‘cheap’ Saudi oil and store it as a reserve.
Just think of all the earthquakes that would stop(sarc)

If those other countries with their despicable ideology are getting Petro-dollars, even if not from us ... those Petro-dollars are causing their despicable ideology to have influence around the world. The only way to eliminate those Petro-dollars and that despicable ideology is to replace oil with another form of energy which is as ubiquitous (if not more so) as oil. Then those countries will have nothing to use to gain influence around the world.

Mind you ... I don’t see anything yet that can replace oil, but maybe after our lifetimes, it will come

I “think simply” ... why bankrupt companies who are already making the USA the world’s Number One Oil Exporter?

I say, “Keep them going!” because they are already doing a fantastic job!

That would have been my next question. So your point is moot.

Even if some other energy source were to be developed (and after Fukushima it probably isn't nuclear) it would have to be cheaper than oil. There would be no other way to force the rest of the world to adopt it.

Hell, they can't even get them all to sign the Kyoto Treaty.

I question your premise that oil companies would go bankrupt.

Wait a few months and you’ll be getting reports of various bankruptcies ... or “fire sales” (for pennies on the dollar) ... being bought up by another stronger company who is not as affected. These guys are going to be going out of business ... because banks and investors will not be put on hold for very long.

There is a lot more oil in other places than these oil exporter nations.

Frakking drill, baby, drill! Worldwide the more the merrier.

That’s right; fig, goat cheese and crude butter sandwiches.

Yeah, that’s right ... there are a lot of other places ... but even so, that doesn’t keep those despicable countries with their insane ideology from getting Petro-dollars to promote their evil ideology. Only a new energy source, which removes those despicable nations completely out of the equation will do that!

I’m waiting for 13 cents a gallon for premium that I paid in high school!

LOL! Gas wars down to 9 cents/gal in ABQ in the 60’s. And of course the glass bottles of re-refined motor oil with the metal spouts in racks. Dang we’re telling on ourselves.
