Before I retired I asked a young Ukrainian co-worker about his homeland. He told me that Ukraine was really two countries. The people in the western part of the country were European. But the population in the eastern part of the country spoke Russian and identified with Russia. He said that Ukraine was really two countries, and always would be. Think about this as we read and hear about this civil war.
