Only the well connected who meet guidelines get the nomination. Reagan was elected when most of the country was still sane, most of which at least spoke the language. This is not the same country as back then. Everything changed, new people, new generations, most of which were taught in liberal academia bastions and were inundated with it and on and on.

We get to choose who to vote for, who to give money to, who to make calls for. If conservatives decide that they have no influence, then they will have no influence. It may be a battle against GOPe money, but ultimately votes decide it.
