Paul Craig Roberts On Delusional America
Zerohedge ^ | February 1, 2015 | Paul Craig Roberts

......

The pattern since Milosevic (and before) has been to demonize a foreign head of state and to take the US to war to get rid of him. That way the secret agenda is achieved under the cover of the necessity of deposing a bad or dangerous ruler.

Parry describes this well. Group-Think plays the important role of preventing any dissent, any suspicion of the case against the demonized person, and any examination of the real agenda that is being pursued.

Now it is Russian President Vladimir Putin who is being demonized. As Parry and I and Stephen F. Cohen, the most knowledgeable of the Russian experts, appreciate, Putin is not Saddam Hussein and Russia is not Iraq, Libya, Syria, Serbia, or Iran. To foment conflict with Russia that could lead to war is worse than irresponsible. Yet, as Parry writes, “from the start of the Ukraine crisis in fall 2013, the New York Times, the Washington Post and virtually every mainstream U.S. news outlet have behaved as dishonestly as they did during the run-up to war with Iraq.”

When Professor Cohen pointed out, correctly, that the lies about Russia, Ukraine, and Putin were hot and heavy, the propagandists had to get rid of the man with the facts. The New Republic, a hang-out for low IQ fools, called America’s leading Russian expert “Putin’s American toady.”

Roberts goes on to write:

As I have written on a number of occasions, facts no longer play a role in American political life. Fact-based analysis is also disappearing from academic life and no longer plays a role in official economic reporting. A matrix has been created, an artificial reality that channels the energies and resources of the country into secret agendas that serve the interests of the ruling private interest groups and neoconservative ideology.

The United States government and the American people cannot contend with reality, because they do not know what the reality is.

In America’s make-believe world, neoconservative toadies such as New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, set the Group-Think tone, while knowledgeable experts such as Stephen Cohen are tuned out.

Putin probably didn’t really buzz Ireland with planes carrying nuclear weapons and the transponder off. He’s a swell dude.

Putin is a KGB thug. He is in charge of a large country with a small economy and a large nuclear arsenal. He is running rings around Obama. This is not a good situation.

I think the author's point is that fighting Russia over the Ukraine is the wrong fight at the wrong time. He thinks we should be listening to Stephen Cohen and refuting his arguments with facts, if possible. The Ukraine is a third world country, an economic basket case. It is no prize for the west. Let Putin have it, or at least the parts of it, and let him choke on it.

Has anyone ever thought that Russia might be a natural ally against moslem jihad? Why is the US not pursuing that avenue? I forgot, the war against terror is over.

There is no doubt in my mind that group think and picking a target is what is going on. I believe there is even setting these targets up to take the blame for things that were created by the targeters is at play.

If people really knew the truth they would be sickened. The truth is also that none of the players, the targeter, or the targetee, are choir boys by any stretch. All of it power plays by the elites.

Is this the same Putin who used his influence to push the US out of Manas, Kyrgyzstan? Is this the same Putin who is supporting the Iranian mad mullahs with yet another nuclear plant, a guy who is going to help us with Islamists threats? Wake up and smell the coffee. You're wearing ideological blinders if you cannot see what Putin is.

I am not going to argue my point because I believe it. If Americans can be bamboozled, so can Hungarians. So can the sheep in any country. People believe what they are led to believe by the media who are arms of the governments.

The real truth is nothing we are told about.

We are all now the world controlled by certain individuals.

Paul Craig Roberts writes a whole column denouncing one side of the Russian/Ukraine situation that is for Ukraine. He calls us delusional, following group think and not willing to listen to facts. Yet at no point in the whole article does he list any facts that would point to us being wrong about Putin, his intentions in the Ukraine and his growing influence around the world.

If we are believing the “lies” about Putin by the mainstream press. What exactly are the lies? Is Putin actually a nice guy who is not trying to carve out his own little sphere of influence? Did I miss something or is it all lies that he’s a former KGB thug? Please, tell me the lie that is out there that I’m being bamboozled about.

Any Russian leader was going to want to get the Ukraine back. And the “stans’.

And the Baltics, if possible.

Even with Putin out, the millions of native Russians who live in those areas would rather be under Russian control than otherwise. And that will mean Russian interest/intervention in those areas.

One needs to address those actual Russian concerns, rather than humanizing(demonizing) it as all just a Putin fantasy.
