Whatever your opinion of Bush 41 and 43 is, they are not imbeciles, and I thought Ann was smart enough to know it. But the I thought she was smart enough to know what a “generation” is too.
“But the I thought she was smart enough to know what a generation is too.”
She’s correct. George H.W.’s father was a senator.
.
I can think of an imbecilic blunder from each of them.
George HW Bush breaking his "No New Taxes!" Pledge.
And George W Bush allowing Bremer to disband the Iraqi Army and throw all the Sunnis out of the Iraqi government.
In both cases I was screaming at my radio regarding how imbecilic such a decisions were, and both of them had EXACTLY the consequences that I thought they would.
Anyone should have been able to see either of those decisions would produce HORRIBLE results, yet Neither one of the Bushes seemed to be able to grasp what would happen.
Whatever your opinion of Bush 41 and 43 is, they are not imbeciles
Bush 43 was a disastrous president. As he left office we were in the biggest economic free fall since the Depression.
Back in the 30s and 40s, no Republican suggested nominating Herbert Hoover’s brother to be their presidential nominee. And yet here we are, considering George Hoover Bush’s brother as our standard bearer. Totally nuts
She's writing on a deadline, so her columns can't all be masterpieces.
"Three generations of imbeciles are enough" is a quote a lot of her readers might recognize -- though they might not agree with the original meaning (support of eugenics and compulsory sterilization).
If one can get past the original context (and Ann's slighting the mental capacities of the two previous Bush presidents), her use of the quote might be thought witty.
