If the impeached Alice Hastings thinks Texas is “crazy”, Texas is normal.

Yes on both. “Real America” is crazy to a democrat.

I remember hearing a popular tune on the radio after I moved to Texas in 1978. Part of the lyrics went something like this:

“While you’re laughing and calling us funny...we’re going to be helping you spend your money...”

What was the name of this song?

I've never been to Texas -- but from my interactions with Texans, my hunch is that the answer here is:

Double affirmative. In a good way.

Alcee Hastings, for those Freepers who may not be aware, was a federal judge who was impeached and removed from office in 1989.

Let’s put it this way - he was so damn guilty (of taking a bribe and perjury) that the Dem-controlled House of Representatives impeached him a 413-3 vote. The Dem-controlled Senate found him guilty on 8 of 11 charges.

He has, IIRC, never apologized for what he did or even acknowledged that he committed those crimes while a federal judge.

He is a truly a detestable person.

Rural Texas is real America. Houston, Austin etc. are just more communist liberals on a heap. Texas politics are
just as corrupt as anywhere else.

Hastings doesn’t get to define what Texas is. The fact that he tried just shows what an arrogant azzzzzzhole he is.

Congressman Alcee Hastings (said) that Texas’s refusal to join Obamacare’s exchanges made it “a crazy state.”

Not a graduate of the University Of Michigan, I see.

Not all Yankees are Demos. Work with a bunch of transplanted yanks. About 90 percent are liberal and vote anything Demorat. They even defend Wiley Price as a progressive leader...lol. Most sit around complaining about the word “Yall”. How uncivilized all the “rednecks” are in Texas and how there just isn’t enough Social programs helping the poor.
