Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said the GOP will employ a little-used law that permits the Senate to reject some federal agency regulations by majority vote and denies opponents the ability to thwart action through a filibuster.

Alexander said that by shortening the time between a union’s request for representation and the actual balloting, the NLRB had cleared the way for a new type of “ambush election” to take place that will disadvantage businesses and workers alike. …

The governor of Illinois just signed an executive order allowing people to opt out of paying dues.

Democrats on twitter are already screeching about abuse of power.

The merits of the move not withstanding, does the Associated Press ever refer to the “Democratic-controlled congress”, when the ‘rats hold the reins?

A lot of FReepers trashed this guy during the election, but for Illinois it seems positive, yes?

Its a positive. It doesn’t appear to apply to public sector unions but its better than nothing.

I have often wondered how an employee of the Federal Government, a government who thrives on the taxpayer’s % to them to pay their Federal Employees....is there a conflict of interest here? Maybe, those federal employees should not be allowed to vote in presidential elections as keeping their jobs could make them prejudiced.

The law-giving body of our once republic has been reduced to a pitiful condition, of subservience to the executive branch.

There is no free government point to federal elections. After a life of never missing a single one, I've had it. To vote anymore is to condone high criminality.

This is a indirect method of implementing card check! Look out, for after short time, the union will have a list of the dissenters, and then begin the terminations.

It seems to me that law needs to be used a LOT!
