In that article the words “remote range” jumped out at me. So we are to believe that this emotional cripple got the drop on and killed two combat hardened warriors. He never got a scratch. So no witnesses and he’s a nutjob. I will leave you to imagine what other scenarios could have transpired.

I keep thinking “sorry Vince”

Pappy Boyington and Chuck Yeager were both shot down. Pat Garrett got backshot while he was pissing. Wild Bill Hickock while gambling. Houdini by a surprise punch to the gut. Red Baron was shot down by rifleman in a ditch. Galland was shot down 4 times.

Pros get shot by lesser adversaries every day. The truth is that the pinnacle of shooting skill is not really that widely separated from the next several skill levels. Think of the Olympics,, the difference between the fastest 10 sprinters is tiny. And the next 500 under them really aren’t that much slower either.

And even though deranged, that Marine weapons training is a deeply ingrained thing. From behind, against two people who trusted him, he could have killed them both in a hellish second or two.
All he had to do was say something pleasant, like what a good day it was, or maybe thank them for caring,,, something about lets do this again soon,,,etc.
A nut could set it up a million ways.

It just boils down to that they trusted someone they thought was kinda like them,,, and he was actually crazy and hearing voices.
