For some reason, the Alabama Highway Patrol used AMC cars, (I can’t recall the model) for several years.
I have read several places where it was indicated they would do over 160MPH.
The Florida HP used Thunderbirds with 460s at one time. I have no idea how fast they would go but it must have been scary.
A few months ago there was a minor accident at a crossroads only around 300 yards from me. This was around 10 P.M. For some reason 6 or 7 FHP and Deputy cars stayed there for a couple of hours. The flashing blue lights on the FHP cars were so bright that they hurt my eyes.
I think it was the Javelin.
