The editor of a leading independent Russian newspaper says he plans this week to publish what purports to be an official Kremlin strategy document outlining Russia's 2014 invasion of Ukraine.
Novaya Gazeta editor Dmitri Muratov said the document appears to have been prepared weeks before Ukraine's pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych was driven from office in February 2014, following weeks of anti-government protests in Kyiv.
Muratov's disclosure came in an interview with Moscow's Ekho Moskvy radio. He did not reveal how the document was obtained, but said he is confident it is authentic.

"The editor also said evidence shows the strategy document was prepared between February 4 and February 15, 2014. Yanukovych did not abandon the presidency and flee to Russia until February 22."
We’ll be back to the day’s of Samizdats in Russia before long. And the author’s of anything showing Putin’s preplanning would be wise to go into hiding or to flee the USSR/Putinstan ASAP.
It is rather revealing how Putin’s Administration has been facilitating the activities of the Russian organization styling itself as the “Imperial Legion” as it invades the Ukraine to conquer and proclaim a Novorussiya.
8 journalists of Novaya gazeta have been murdered in Russia. It is very dangerous to write for that paper.
Of course it was planned before the dictator was ousted and replaced by Parliament. The Kremlin was already ordering their media to describe the protesters as nazi’s and all kinds of other things, which were not true at all.
Obviously, some freepers fell for that propaganda.
I hope Dmitri Muratov is ready to disappear one night, because I don’t think he is going to enjoy breathing much longer
this guy won’t be around much longer, Putin’s enemies usually disappear
Watch your back Mr Editor.
Muratov should be careful what tea he drinks.
I do wonder if the document was prepared weeks before OR revised. The Russians would be stupid NOT to have contingency plans for invading the Ukraine.
The Pentagon has ALL kinds of contingency plans for invading this and that.
If the Russians have a similar mindset, they probably saw the writing on the wall in the Ukraine (a Western-backed coup, sort of like Operation Ajax coup in Iran in 1953 against Mossadeq), dusted off an old plan, and revised it.
