How much money do national press, network and online commentators make for their dubious contributions (mostly leftwing) to the national discourse?

How much money do national press, network and online commentators make for their dubious contributions (mostly leftwing) to the national discourse? Cost of living in media centers cannot be cheap and I cannot imagine that what these people do is commensurate with the money it takes to live in the places they hang out…particularly when reading about the financial travails of big city newspapers. I know that local news people receive starvation wages with little hope of making the big time…like a Brian Williams or others who seem to be grossly overcompensated for the work they do. Anybody out there in the media have insight into this question?

Don’t know, but actors and press should have a 95% tax on them to spread the wealth since they want a high minimum wage and all these fantasy programs.

The more they get their network from it’s advertisers the more they make.
Their networks’ advertisers- not their shows’ advertisers, that would be unethical.

Anderson Cooper’s $11 million paycheck costs CNN an eye-popping $18.09 per viewer. (in 2012)

They also get money for talking to various groups that are funded by the democrat party. In short they are bribed.

If in fact, a novice, Chelsea Clinton, was paid $600,000 per year for an entry level reporter job at NBC, then, this should establish some sort of minimum entry level pay, right?

If in fact, Brian Williams’ salary was $10m/year.... whoa, that must be some sort of error, right?

Anyways, whatever his compensation was, if in fact, word seeping out that this overpaid lying egotistical buffoon (if that’s too harsh, just add a journalistic favorite “alleged” to each of those characterizations and all will be okay, right??) may have also added under-the-table income by slightly exaggerating his travel expenses as reported to NBC, no telling how much that adds up to. I am sure the NBC auditors and IRS examiners are on top of this as we speak and that a full report will be made public very soon, right?

So, if all these alleged factors are true, then the range of annual remuneration at NBC, anyways, would be between $600,000 and $10m, plus whatever “chickenfeed” could be gathered from unexpected alleged nefarious schemes along the way! Not bad, right?

During her tenure as a "reporter" at NBC, Chelsea Clinton did - if I remember correctly - either two, or possibly three, stories.

The National and big city folks do alright. Actual dollars are based on their individual contracts.

Mid market anchors make ok money. Reporters less. Second 100 market reporters are probably making $25k. Small market journalists are really not much better paid than interns.

Yeah, but they were detailed investigative stories in Little Rock. These take more time and effort, don’t they? I’m almost absolutely positively sure she had no help from the local NBC Affiliate in getting her stuff together... wink, wink!

I happened to be in a position to see the contract between Kiran Chetry and Fox News in the year before she was let go. Base was $371,000 plus bonus.

Bonus contained a complicated formula but was, as I remember, between 10% and 40% of base.

Yep, husband of the girl that cuts my hair is a beat reporter/ fill in weekend anchor on a local tv channel. She said under $100k.

And he works his butt off.
