I thought the people of Toledo and the Nazis would get along just fine as Toledo is a bastion of left leaning liberalism and liberal idiocy.

during the Civil War

It is likely most of the honorable men of Toledo died in my hometown during the Civil War. The 63rd Ohio Infantry suffered almost a 60% casualty rate on Oct 3-4th, 1862 here. Many are still buried here. Ohio doesn't have any monuments to them or reminders here probably because of the embarrassment they suffered that allowed their city to become today what it is.

The 63rd was raised in Marietta, which is on the opposite side of the state from Toledo

Ohio still must be embarrassed by them as the people of the State haven't recognized their bravery with any remembrance of their valor. I wonder what the men would think of Toledo if they were to see it today and if their sacrifice was worth the effort? John Wilson Sprague was from Toledo as were several of the members of the 63rd.

The next time you are in Cleveland, please stop by and visit the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Public Square. There is a guest book there to sign, if you wish.

Although the Battle of Corinth was a victory for the Northern States, it was a pretty small one.
