Finland had corporal punishment (for drunk driving) back in the 1960s.

Wealthy people still need insurance and can have their license revoked if they get too many points.

Making fines cost different amounts for different incomes is not equal treatment under the law. Are we going to put wealthy people in prison longer because their time is “worth more”?

If you go down this road law enforcement will be pulling over only expensive cars to maximize their take.

It is fundamentally wrong to treat the wealthy differently under the law - either way.

The point of fines is to inflict pain - No its a big revenue generator, the point is to pack the gubmit bank account. The fact it causes you pain, is just tough shite.

I saw that too when I drove through that commie province last summer. It’s extremely retarded.

You don’t understand kph? Kilometers an hour? It’s far less complex than imperial. Personally, I use imperial for most things except ranging targets. We always used meters in Canadian Infantry. I’m also old enough to have learned both systems in school.

1000 meters is 1km. 60km/h is also self explanatory. Basically, all the numbers are divisible by ten etc and makes things easy and quick to calculate.

Of course our rural lands are still in mile quarters etc, and a lot of us will still say.. just head down this road another mile and turn right, go a quarter mile and the farm is on the south side of the road.

It helps me to know both though though.

As far as Ontario goes, if it went up in a mushroom cloud, nobody would miss it, same for Quebec lol (evacuate the women first, they’re hot) lol.

Not around here. There's small town police forces here (population 300) that give out speeding tickets as a revenue raising device. Dukes of Hazzard types that do not care if you were speeding or not, you get a ticket anyways.

I have paid several 'fines' over the years to these crooks knowing full well that I wasn't speeding but it's too expensive to fight in court. Some of these towns have reputations so bad that the state will not even count the tickets against your license if you get a ticket from them.

And they are not the only one, nor are they unique. A similar thing happened to the town I am sitting just a half mile from right now. and the Ft. Walton police lost their rights to issue citations on Hwy 98 years ago because of their over zealous ticket writing.....................
